We no longer live in the age of shamans, kings and queens and tyrants. The modern world has moved on from that movement, hopefully not momentarily but in perpetuity. This change has brought about a simple question of leadership.
Do great leaders want more followers or more leaders?
To those who are poor of thought and philosophy I would argue they would expect great leaders to want followers. Those that know great leaders and are leaders know that you always want more leaders. Leaders in today’s world are not bound by title or function. They are perpetual students. They ask great questions and challenge things that don’t add up.
A follower does as they are told and reflect loyalty instead of organizational goals. Leaders reflect organizational goals and earn respect and loyalty. There is no one way to be a leader but if you expect to have followers then you are sorely in the lowest quartile of leadership.
